I am an Electrical Engineer with many years of product design and development experience and a recent graduate of the Northern Arizona University, Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology.
My message to the disability community “Embrace Technology…Expand your Independence.”
My focus is the innovative repurposing of existing Technology to enhanced the quality of life…in one’s “living space.”
Specifically it’s about “transforming” your living space into an Independent Living…Space
I see you recently completed the NAU Assistive Technology program. I would be curious as to your thoughts on the program — the good and the not so good.
I have been a software developer for a number of years but have an interest in assistive technology and accessible web design and am looking into education options in these areas.
I would also be curious as to whether you considered some of the other distance programs such at the one at CSU Dominguez Hills or the one offered by CSU at Northridge and if so, why you chose the NAU one.
Thanks
The program at NAU was a no-brainer for me. I lived in Flagstaff at the time and a local country program, funded by a federal government “incentives program” paid my tuition in full.
It’s a good program, all online except two of the classes require that you come to Flagstaff for an “AT Weekend.” Basically it’s two 8 hour weekend days working in the AT lab on campus. I’m thinking this is a deal breaker for you.
I know nothing about the CSUN program in Northridge other then it’s a full Masters program and the NAU program is a Graduate Certificate i.e. 15 credits.
